A RESTAURANT LEADER OBTAINS A 300% ROI WITH OUR ENERGY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM BY EMPOWERING THEIR STAFF WITH TECHNOLOGY

In 2016, CRM, one of the most important restaurant groups in Mexico, and S2G Energy started a strategic alliance with our program EMaaS project (Energy Management as a Service). The goal was to provide more efficient energy consumption and operational process in the restaurant and empower the collaborators to provide excellent service while reducing resource consumption. With more than 2,000 IoT devices in more than 70 Chili’s®, Olive Garden®, and other restaurants, we carefully analyzed the energy consumption and defined comparable energy intensity standards along with the operational process. The result is energy-saving strategies supported by simple and actionable information for operational teams. The impact is the empowerment of a service organization to continue to offer the best service with standardized energy cost strategies for the business. The resilience required by the hospitality sector during the COVID-19 period has turned into a competitive advantage. Thanks to the data and information available to make decisions in real-time.

CHALLENGE

In a culture dedicated to serving and surprising guests, the challenge lies in empowering the people who directly provide the service. This, in some cases, if done with the wrong data, can take more time than estimated and distract the operational team from their primary tasks. That is why we seek to develop strategies to answer the following questions: How to achieve energy efficiency without taking time away from the operational team or affecting comfort/service? It is a digital platform designed to empower work teams to achieve efficiency goals and reduce the business’s environmental impact.

S2G ENERGY SOLUTION

Deployment of IoT sensors to measure and forecast energy consumption. Definition of an energy intensity standard and detection of issues in critical equipment.

We defined saving strategies for specific needs in every part of the operation process, different regions, and brands with our customer. Feedback is collected from users through incidence reports and performance rankings.

Empowerment of all the teams involved through training, reports, KPI’s and customized alerts. Guaranteed adoption of an effective management tool aligned with the company’s goals.

RESULTS

Short-term results: 10% efficiency in 10 months with standardization of energy intensity and operational discipline monitored by the EMaaS platform.

Data as a tool to detect inefficiencies: opened fridges, consumption outside working hours, and unusual consumptions higher than the standard in critical equipment. +6% efficiency of the program.

Flexibility to widely implement operational practices with a minimum energy consumption, which was a strategy to mitigate the pandemic’s impact.
